Elder Berlene Mercer is a devoted servant of God whose life reflects a deep commitment to prayer, outreach, and Kingdom service. She was licensed under Bishop Orlando Moore in February 2005 in Siegelbach, Germany. From the very beginning, she has faithfully served in multiple areas of ministry, including doorkeeper, outreach coordinator, carpet ministry, and Sunday School teacher—demonstrating humility, faithfulness, and a heart to serve God’s people.
Ordination and Ministry Leadership
In September 2015, Elder Mercer was ordained in Waldorf, Maryland, alongside her husband, Pastor Marcus Mercer. Together, they labor in unity, advancing the Kingdom of God through preaching, teaching, and leadership. Elder Mercer carries a message of hope and encouragement, desiring to serve in a manner that brings glory and honor to God.
Military Service and Outreach Impact
Elder Mercer honorably served over 24 years in the United States military, where she shared the love of Christ with those entrusted to her care. During her service, she led Young Adult Bible Studies and organized outreach initiatives that impacted many lives.
She also dedicated numerous hours serving in food banks, helping to address food insecurity within military and surrounding communities. After retiring from military service, her passion for outreach continued as she researched, developed, and implemented programs to connect military communities with nonprofit food banks. Upon returning to Texas, she continued her outreach work with Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, further demonstrating her heart for service.

Elder Mercer lives by the truth of Colossians 3:17:
“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
This scripture serves as the foundation of her life and ministry, guiding her to represent Christ in all she does.
Direct Path Church
Through prayer, obedience, and unity with her husband, Word Center Christian Fellowship Texas was launched in April 2022. In August 2024, the ministry was rebranded as Direct Path Church. Elder Mercer continues to serve faithfully, helping to build a ministry centered on truth, love, and transformation.
Education and Lifelong Learning
Elder Mercer is committed to continual growth and development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Master of Applied Management, and a Master of Divinity. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry, equipping herself to serve both spiritually and strategically.
Family and Legacy
Elder Mercer is a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother. Described by her husband and children as a Proverbs 31 woman, she exemplifies strength, wisdom, and grace. She is the proud mother of seven daughters and two sons, and is blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law.
Affectionately known as “Oma,” she treasures her role as grandmother to six grandsons and one granddaughter. Her legacy of faith, love, and service continues to grow through the generations.
